Dragonsfly: Celtic Folk Rock from the Campfires

Updated: Jan 21, 2020

Dragonsfly @ Art Bank Cafe, Shepton Mallet, 31st Dec 19

New Year's Eve 2019 was celebrated at the Art Bank Café, a contemporary grassroots café bar housed in an old bank where they recycle trash into beautiful art and offer a plant-based menu. Probably something you’d be more inclined to expect in a funky city-scape but no, welcome to Shepton Mallet in deepest Somerset.

Once a ghost town with a prison and a massive supermarket, Shepton’s culture is now rising with independent cafés, art galleries, antiques shops and vinyl outlets etc. Such a metaphor for the NYE band, “Dragonsfly” whose inspiring folk, rock and world fusion with distinct celtic influences, thanks to the French bagpipes, enabled us to metaphorically climb out of the post-Christmas mud and fly joyously into the promising new year…

With two great albums under their belts, this band is best served with a roaring camp fire under the stars where no office blocks are allowed!
